Earlier this year you might remember that I held a contest. The name of it was “You know you’re a mother when…” I had a great response from all of you, I had a fun reading what you all wrote. The winner of my contest was a young mother named Marlies. Her response particularly struck a cord in my heart and I think in many of your hearts too. She wrote:

“You know you’re a mom when every moment of your day is filled with a longing, a desire to hold

your child one more time. When all you can do is dream of the what-ifs and the could-haves that

live on after the stillbirth of your firstborn son. And you know you’re a mom when you get listen to

the heartbeat of your second child…”

Marlies was around 5 months pregnant at the time of my contest and requested that her prize be for a newborn shoot after the birth of her second child. This month I got to meet Marlies, her husband and their darling baby girl, Ranen! I was blown away by the strength and love shown by Ranen’s remarkable parents :) That love glows through their photos and lights up the rooms of their house. Don’t you agree?

Ranen even gave me a smile during our shoot :)

 This little dress was a gift from her Daddy. He bought it when they found out they were pregnant. They never officially knew she was a girl until her birth, but sometimes parents just know.

 This first orchid is a special reminder of Ranen’s big brother, so we had to sneak it in one of the photos.

 This second orchid was a gift to the family at Ranen’s birth.
