Sarah & Andreas - A Perfect Chilliwack Wedding
Posted by roxannajphotography on February 10, 2010
I am a Chilliwack girl. So when I booked this wedding for February 6th, I must admit I was a little pessimistic about the time of year. To my surprise it was a perfect day. In fact, it was hard to imagine a more perfect day for a wedding in February than this past Saturday! The sun was shinning with just a little bit of cloud cover, a photographer’s dream. The grass was green and flowers were even starting to bloom! But if I were to stop at talking about the weather I would be missing out on all the other parts of the day that made this wedding perfect. Andreas and Sarah’s wedding was exactly my style: simple, romantic, full of laughter, without pretence or fussiness and glowing with love.
It was hard for Sarah and Andreas not to be beaming with love! They had survived the majority of their courtship and engagement through long distance. Saturday was the last day they would have to endure the seemingly endless separation and waiting; the glow on their faces was obvious. We shot our photos before the ceremony. I always like to set up a special meeting place to take photos of “The First Look”. I love this series of the couple (below)! The flower girls were perfect dolls all dressed up in their capes and curls. The bridesmaids dresses of bright red were stunning against the spring colours. I could just go on and on about the beauty in this wedding but I’ve been told a picture is worth a thousand words so maybe we should just get to those instead :)
Emily Hoskins of Liberty Tree Photography, aka my favourite co-shooter, shot with me at this wedding. The photos below are a combination of our work.

I can’t get enough of the red in the bridesmaids dresses! Aren’t they stunning?

l love this little series below! Emily had an idea for our white umbrella’s. While I was showing the wedding party how to stand Emily kept shooting :) The second image is the posed idea. I don’t know which part I love best, the stark white umbrellas, the fun red dresses or the funky barn behind them all!

This couple was just too cute!

Every wedding I love to try something fun and new with the couple. This wedding I came up with the idea to story board the groom painting a heart on an old board. I was a little nervous about the white paint around the black tux but my adventurous bride was all for the idea. Take a look how it worked out…

I found this old truck on the farm and loved how it matched their bright wedding colours.

Emily did a great job shooting the guys!

Isn’t this barn just amazing?! It is just one of 6 barns on the farm at our location.

Sarah and Andreas were so in love!

Our second location was an old house that I shot at for a maternity shoot a while ago. I loved the house so much I just had to return to shoot here again.

Last but not least, this wouldn’t be a wedding blog without some ceremony photos. Here are 4 of my favourites. The flower girls were so cute, I just had to put 2 of them up.

The last image I want to show was taken just as we were packing up to go. I saw this family scene and just had to snap this one last image of the day.
